Mobile Computing Industry Leaders To Discuss IMS Opportunities04/19/2006 - Acton, MA and Hood River, OR – The Portable Computer and Communications Association (PCCA), a leading non-profit association of companies working together to create a vital, thriving industry in mobile computing, today announced the agenda for its Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) symposium. The event, to be held on the 17th of May 2006 in Boston, Massachusetts, is hosted by PCCA member Tatara Systems, a market leader in mobile services convergence.
The all-day symposium will include presentations from senior technologists and industry leaders, including CTOs and founders of top companies across the IMS arena, such as Intel, AT&T, Airvana, NMS Communications and Tatara Systems. The agenda includes updates on IMS applications, devices, standards, and business case studies. “Tatara is delighted to host the PCCA in Boston,” said Dr Asa Kalavade, founder and chief technical officer of Tatara Systems. “This meeting is a gathering of many industry leaders to share perspectives, strategies and tactical insights on the topic of IMS including real-world challenges and successes in today’s evolving mobile industry.” The PCCA is unique in bringing together key technologists from across the mobile industry, including device manufacturers, network operators, and infrastructure vendors. Often this includes representatives from competing companies working to collaborate on complex issues to help move the wireless industry forward. Attendees have a unique opportunity to interact and ask questions that cannot generally be addressed in other industry forums or conferences. “This meeting will assess the state of IMS and facilitate IMS applications development,” explained Peter Rysavy, executive director of the PCCA. “IMS promises to enable a new generation of wireless applications and to facilitate the convergence of 3G, Wi-Fi and wireline networks. Though the opportunities are great, there are complex interoperability issues that must be addressed, and it is crucial that all players involved work towards common interfaces to best leverage this important platform.” Full details, including agenda and registration information, are available on the web at: www.pcca.org.
