Fixed Mobile Convergence Solutions

Tatara’s Fixed Mobile Convergence focus is femtocell with a strong belief that femtocell is a better strategy for mobile operators than dual-mode handsets.

Femtocell Convergence
A femtocell is a small cellular base station that is designed to be located inside a home and using a DSL/Cable connection to backhaul traffic. Mobile operators are increasingly coming under more pressure to evolve offerings that will create bundled Fixed Mobile Convergence services. Tatara’s femtocell convergence solution allows mobile operators to deploy IP based femtocell devices today using the existing IP infrastructure while providing a seamless evolution to IMS. By using an All-IP infrastructure, the solution:
  • Enables the Mobile Operator’s femtocell Fixed Mobile Convergence strategy to deliver much more than coverage extension
  • Works in pre-IMS and IMS environments: Allows mobile operators to deploy IP/SIP based femtocell devices today in existing mobile and VoIP networks
  • Allows Mobile Operators to provide Triple and Quadruple play bundling
  • Reduces network costs using IP networks
  • Reduces load on the mobile core network
Tatara’s solutions solve identified and key network challenges to allow mobile operators to realize the value of femtocells, including:
  • Enables single one number access of services: Voice, SMS, MMS, Home number routing, Mobile TV, Multimedia downloads
  • Provides security equivalent to macro cell networks to femtocells
  • Supports standard supplementary services in both existing IP and IMS environments
  • Supports handover between femtocell and macro cell networks
