Software Architect: Fixed-Mobile ConvergenceTatara’s Fixed-Mobile Convergence strategy is focused on an all-IP (SIP/IMS) Femtocell Architecture as a powerful convergence approach for mobile service providers. The ‘Tatara Convergence Server’ leverages a SIP or IMS network while interworking with a mobile core. The solution takes advantage of current wireless handsets to provide improved in-home coverage, lower cost, and advanced revenue generating IP-based services via an economical femtocell access point.
We require the Software Architect to possess a track record in wireless voice systems design including the successful development of a GSM/UMTS (3GPP) and/or CDMA (3GPP2) core network element. This position reports to the VP of Engineering and will work at Tatara headquarters in Acton, MA. Limited domestic and international travel may be required. Job Responsibilities: o Work with customers and partners to develop next generation converged network solutions and seek feedback on the product. o Contribute to Product Management on the detailed product requirements o Lead the development team in the architecture, design, and development of new features and services o Write, present, and review engineering materials including architecture, design, and functional specifications. o Explore new technology alternatives and solutions. o Liaise with all technical contributors to ensure the delivery of services meeting the technical and design specifications. Candidate Requirements: o The ideal candidate will have significant development experience on a CDMA and/or GSM mobile switch (MSC, MSC Server, Mobile/Wireless Softswitch) and deployment experience with a wireless operator. o Thorough knowledge of CDMA and GSM/UMTS core network architecture, elements, and protocols including ANSI-41, GSM MAP, WIN, and CAMEL o Understanding of SIP and IMS network architecture, elements, and protocols o 15+ years of general data and telecommunications systems architecture, design, and development. o 10+ years of communications protocol development using object oriented design methodologies, tools, and C++ programming. o Extensive project experience developing and delivering commercial grade products to strict processes and deadlines o Experience with full product lifecycle including functional specification, design, development, documentation, QA, release and maintenance. o Strong team working skills o Excellent communication, documentation, and people skills o BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; MS or PhD is a plus |
