Tatara Systems Joins Femto Forum as Founding Board Member

09/24/2007 - ACTON, MA – Tatara Systems, a leader in mobile services convergence, today announced that it has joined the Femto Forum as a founding board member. The Forum is an industry group that promotes the deployment of femtocells worldwide, bringing together vendors and leading mobile network operators, to raise the profile of femtocell technology through marketing initiatives, and support the adoption of common architectures leveraging industry standards.

“The Femto Forum is well and truly up and running and I’m pleased to say the working groups are making valuable progress on developing common solutions to the challenges facing the femtocell industry,” said Simon Saunders, Chairman of the Femto Forum. “We welcome Tatara’s membership and look forward to their contribution to shaping the femtocell industry.”

Tatara Systems has staked out an early leadership position in this market, as the first vendor to announce a SIP-based solution for femtocell network integration into a mobile operator’s IP or IMS infrastructure. Tatara’s Convergence Server ensures service parity with the macro network, for both CDMA and GSM operators, while enabling the delivery of new, in-home, fixed-mobile services.

“Tatara is pleased to be joining the Femto Forum, and we look forward to collectively resolving the issues critical to speeding the adoption of this exciting new technology,” stated Stephen Collins, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Tatara Systems. “By working together as an industry, we can build a stronger overall femtocell ecosystem, eliminate any barriers to deployment, and enable mobile network operators to deliver innovative, converged services.”

“Femtocells will enable mobile network operators to realize the promise of fixed-mobile convergence, but there are radio and network integration issues that need to be addressed in order to achieve mass market adoption,” said Stéphane Téral, Principal Analyst at Infonetics Research. “It is encouraging that Tatara and the other founding members of the Femto Forum have formed this cross-industry body to help address these issues.”
